Super Bowl 2007 odds
Just one day after the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21-10 to claim Super Bowl XL, an offshore sports book, aptly named sportsbook.com, has released early odds on next year's big game, which will be held on February 4th, 2007 at Dolphins Stadium in Miami. As expected, the are getting very little respect from the odds makers after three consecutive losing seasons and the fact that they're the only NFL currently without a head coach. However, if you're a firm believer that the Raiders and their soon-to-be-announced coach will have a fairy tale year in 2007 that culminates with the team hoisting the Lombardi Trophy next February, you can snag them up at a hefty 50-1 price. For those of you not familiar with gambling terms, a $100 wager on the Raiders to win Super Bowl XLI would make for a sweet payoff of $5100, which includes the original $100 you must put up.If 50-1 sounds a tad high, don't feel bad. Ten other NFL clubs are even less likely to win it all. The longest odds currently belong to the New Orleans Saints. They are listed at 200-1. Those "in the know" must still believe the Steelers win over the Indianapolis Colts in this past season's playoffs was a fluke, as they are 8-1, compared to the favorite Colts' 4-1 odds. The Miami Dolphins will have a huge home-field advantage if they can win the AFC in 2007 and earn a Super Bowl berth. They have a 20-1 shot, according to this site.
