Revis deal may save Jets from rough start

What happens if Darrelle Revis continues his holdout into the season and the New York Jets start 0-2? That's the scenario New York Daily News writer Gary Myers explored over the weekend.

That situation isn't so outlandish. The Jets have lost their best pass-rusher, nfl jerseys
outside linebacker Calvin Pace, reportedly for as long as six weeks because of foot surgery.

Couple that with Revis' absence, and the Jets' pass defense will be seriously short-handed against a pair of playoff teams with capable quarterbacks: the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots.

The premise of the article was 0-2, but there's a legitimate chance the Jets open 0-3. In Week 3, they go on the road to play a team they couldn't beat last year, the Miami Dolphins. In Week 4, the Jets will visit the Buffalo Bills, a team that beat them at the Meadowlands last year.

Myers broke down the possible outcomes for Revis Panthers jersey
this way:
• Revis accepts the Jets' asking price. Myers reported the Jets' offer on the table since Memorial Day is 10 years for $122 million and explained the negotiating parties, before they mutually agreed not to talk to the media, disputed over what money was guaranteed -- if any.
• The Jets accept Revis' asking price. Myers has it at 10 years for $160 million with "about" $30 million in guarantees.
• They meet in the middle. The Jets could rework Revis current contract to bump up his base salary.

Given the Jets' lofty expectations, imagine the leverage Revis would gain if the Jets get off to a slow start.

At least publicly, the Jets are expressing confidence they will be Bills jersey
fine without Revis and Pace.

"Whenever you got two quality players like that, it's going to be tremendously difficult to try and stay at that same level," Jets linebacker Bart Scott said on a conference call Sunday afternoon. "That being said, we just have to adjust the way we attack, do things differently and not have as much flexibility as we like. But we still can get the job done."
